The Zefon Air-O-Cell® Air Sampling Cassette is designed for the rapid collection and quantitative analysis of a wide range of airborne aerosols and particulates. It collects both viable and non-viable specimens, providing a broad overview of potential airborne allergens and contaminants. Air-O-Cell® can collect bioaerosols such as mold spores, pollen, insect parts, and skin cell fragments, as well as fibers including asbestos, fiberglass, cellulose, clothing fibers, and synthetics. It can also collect inorganic and opaque particulates such as ceramic, fly ash, copy toner, oil droplets, paint, combustion products, rust, and salts.

The Air-O-Cell® cassette operates using the principle of inertial impaction. Particulate-laden air is accelerated through the cassette's tapered inlet slit and directed toward a slide containing collection media. Particles impact the collection media while airflow continues through the exit orifice. The adhesive collection media helps prevent collected particulates from blurring or being washed away during laboratory staining and reduces sample loss caused by vibration during handling and shipment.

After sampling, the cassette can be sent to a laboratory where the slide is removed for direct microscopic analysis. The collection media is compatible with a wide range of biological stains and refractive index oils for direct quantitative analysis of organic and inorganic particulates. Air-O-Cell® can be used with a standard area sampling pump capable of drawing 15 LPM open flow, and its compact size makes it suitable for confined or restrictive spaces.
